Located two blocks north of Santa Cruz’s scenic Westcliff Drive on the edge of Monterey Bay, this 2400 SF single-family residence and 500 SF Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) embody a modern vernacular style, with naturally aging board and batten redwood siding and galvalume corrugated metal roof. The one-bedroom ADU and garage below were completed first, with construction commencing on the residence nine years later.

Natural light fills the interior, which is richly detailed with vertical grain Douglas Fir trim and cabinetry. Materials are allowed to exist in their natural state and hues. The meditation loft with an ocean view is accessed by an alternate tread stairway and bridge that spans the length of the master bedroom.
